I’ve been a big fan and practioner of the martial arts for years now. One of the most recent martial arts i’ve been practicing is wrestling. Now, when you mention wrestling most people would think men in tights and names like hulk hogan would come to mind. Needless to say, amatuer olympic wrestling (freestyle/greco roman) has not made its mark here in Singapore only up till recently.

Wrestling is one of the oldest forms of combative sports in the world, transcending many cultures.  In every known culture, you could probably find some form of wrestling.  For example, Turkey has their infamous turkish oil wrestling, Mongolia has Mongolian wrestling.  Japan has various forms such as sumo and judo. And of course the greeks and the romans have their forms as well which were made world famous in the olympics.  Wrestling is the act of physical engagement between two people in which each wrestler strives to get an advantage over, or control of, the opponent. Physical techniques which embody the style of wrestling are clinching, throws, takedowns, ground grappling.
